CrossSections − Public Meeting

IASPIS hosts the Public Meeting of the CrossSections project in Stockholm. The speakers of the meeting will be the Iaspis Studio Grant Holder Yane Calovski (MKD), the curator of the project Basak Senova (TUR) and participating artist of the project Ramesch Daha (AUT).

CrossSections is a cross disciplinary research platform focusing on the meaning of “process” in artistic research with aim to articulate critical reactions to the political, economic, and social disturbances facing us today. The project emerged from the need to challenge the ‘status quo’ across the political spectrum and support effective and critical forms of discursive and artistic productions to emerge. In the course of two years (2017-2018), the project is expected to engage with a number of artists, scholars and cultural workers, producing a varied forms of meetings, residencies, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and talks designed to be held in three cities: Vienna, Helsinki, and Stockholm.

The meeting in Stockholm specifically aims to consider the way we can understand the notions of ‘archiving’ and ‘activism’ through the artistic, theoretical and design practices of the invited speakers. The participants will first introduce and discuss the research strains and three of the main keywords of the project: responses, potentials, and sharing.  In the discussion part of the meeting some of the participating artists including Barbara Holub (AT), Behzad Khosravi Noori (IR/SE), Benji Boyadgian (FI/PS), Egle Oddo (IT/FI), Isa Rosenberger (AT), Lina Selander (SE), Nisrine Boukrari (SY/SE), Ricarda Denzer (DE/AT), Tamsin Snow (IE/UK), and Timo Tuhkanen (FI) along with the partners of the project will give their input.

Curated by Basak Senova, CrossSections project is organized in partnership of Kunsthalle Exnergasse, (WUK Werkstätten und Kulturhaus) in Vienna; Iaspis – the Swedish Arts Grants Committee’s International Programme for Visual and Applied Artists, Konstfack, University College of Arts, Crafts and Design, and The Nordic Art Association in Stockholm; Nya Småland in different locations in Sweden; HIAP – Helsinki International Artist Programme and University of the Arts Helsinki – Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki; and Press to Exit Project Space in Skopje, Macedonia.
