Film screening and panel discussion: Good Life
Warmly welcome to the screening of the documentary film Good Life. After the film there will be a panel discussion with the director Marta Dauliūtė, urbanist Miguel Robles-Durán, architect Tor Lindstrand and sociologist Majsa Allelin, about spaces of neoliberalism and entrepreneurial futures. Introduction and moderation by Elof Hellström and Magnus Ericson.

Good Life (72 min, Sweden, Lithuania, Finland, 2022). Visionary ideas for the future take shape in an exclusive neoliberal collective, where entrepreneurship has become something far more than the implementation of a business idea. Documentary filmmakers Marta Dauliute and Viktorija Šiaulytė follows a group of young people in a “co-living start-up” in central Stockholm. Here, capital is synonymous with the individual’s ability and innovation is the elusive watchword. Here, selected entrepreneurs can rent a “pod” to live in, and in return receive inspiration, community and eternal productivity. At a time when we all expect to live in a condition that requires us to constantly self-promote and realise ourselves, Good Life goes deep into what the entrepreneurial ideology does to us. What happens when a company’s narrative becomes part of one’s innermost self and community becomes a product?
The event is presented in collaboration between IASPIS, the course Tusen kulturhus at the Royal Institute of Art, MDEMC, Draken film, Konstfrämjandet Stockholm and Hägerstensåsens medborgarhus.
Marta Dauliūtė is a director, producer and intimacy coordinator born in Šiauliai, Lithuania. She holds an MFA in film directing from Valand Academy. Since 2013 together with Elisabeth Marjanović Cronvall and Elin Lilleman Eriksson she runs the independent production company MDEMC based in Stockholm. Their focus is auteur films with high artistic quality and experimental aesthetics. Marta is a founding member of Noncitizen, film and cultural project that aims to highlight the issues of nationality, citizenship and freedom of movement.
Miguel Robles-Durán is an urbanist with expertise in the design and analysis of complex urban systems and urban political-ecology. He is an associate professor of urbanism and director of the graduate urban programs at The New School / Parsons School of Design in New York City. He is a founding member of Urban Front, a transnational consultancy focused on helping progressive public and social sectors address critical urban issues. He is also co-founder of Cohabitation Strategies (CohStra), a nonprofit cooperative for socio-spatial design and development based in New York City and Rotterdam.
Tor Lindstrand is a Senior Lecturer and head of the Master Program in Spatial Design at Konstfack, University of Arts, Craft and Design. He is a co-owner of the architecture office Larsson Lindstrand Palme arkitektkontor AB specializing on public projects. Between 2008 and 2018) he was associate professor at KTH School of Architecture. His practice oscillate between architecture, art and performance with projects presented in numerous cultural contexts and institutions. In 2004 he co-founded International Festival and in 2010 Economy, together with Jessica Watson-Galbraith. Within the research project Space, Power and Ideology he has researched the recent history of alternative practices in the field of architecture and design.
Majsa Allelin is a Associate Senior Lecturer at the School of Education, Humanities and Social Sciences at Halmstad University. Her research areas include social and economical reproduction. Her current research project focuses on how the social and organizational conditions influence the technological development. More specifically, the project addresses how knowledge production and entrepreneurial learning evolves during innovation work.
Elof Hellström is together with Sebastian Dahlqvist artistic directors at Hägerstensåsens medborgarhus where they during 2023/24 run the Postmaster course Tusen kulturhus at the Royal Institute of Art. Magnus Ericson is Head of IASPIS Applied Arts, responsible for the design, craft, architecture, urban and spatial practice related programme.
