Linda Hofvander
Studio grant holder in Stockholm 1 October 2020 – 31 March 2021
Linda Hofvander. Born 1978 in Stockholm. Lives and works in: Stockholm.
I work with analogue photography and look at questions relating to the essence of photography beyond documentary narratives. I revisit the intrinsic elements of photography, such as surface, depth, readings and notions, and the possibility to experience time and space in a flat surface. The spatial portrayal in photography also interests me. During my residence at Iaspis, I want to examine the sculptural qualities of photography. I plan to work on a defined project and visual material, but without specific goals or intentions. I see this as an opportunity for deeper theoretical and practical studies and going outside my habitual patterns.
Linda Hofvander has an MFA in photography from the School of Photography, University of Gothenburg, and a BFA from the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. She has been featured in exhibitions such as Golden Sunset at Moderna Museet Stockholm; The Visible. Contemporary Swedish Photography, at Artipelag, Värmdö; Dislocating Surfaces. New Scandinavian Photography, curated by MELK at Kunstnernes hus in Oslo; Snittet, at Borås Museum of Modern Art; Publicerat – fotoboken i Sverige, at Hasselblad Center and Centrum för fotografi; I relation till – en utställning om rum och plats, at Centrum för fotografi; and a solo exhibition at Cecilia Hillström Gallery, Format, Konstepidemin and MELK.
