Obaro Ejimiwe

Obaro Ejimiwe is a musician, performer, radio broadcaster, and artist born in London, UK. His artistic practice weaves through image-making, installation and sound, delving into questions concerning African spirituality, colonialism, masculinity, identity, and Black joy. As a musician and performer under the moniker Ghostpoet, his work offers poetic, introspective observations on capitalism, relationships, community, society, and politics in the contemporary world.
In his 12-year career, he has released five albums through labels Brownswood and PIAS. He received two Mercury Prize nominations, for “Peanut Butter Blues and Melancholy Jam” (2011) and for “Shedding Skin” (2015). He has played at renowned festivals such as Glastonbury, Sonar, Iceland Airwaves. Ejimiwe holds an honorary doctorate from Coventry University.
