Sara Lindström Lindhe
Artist in residence, Stockholm, 4 June 2024 – 15 November 2024
Sara Lindström Lindhe, born in 1983, is a Swedish choreographer and artist based in Stockholm. Active in an expanded field of choreography, her work spans various formats including live performances, film, audio, and installation pieces, engaging within both performing arts and contemporary art contexts.
Her interest lies in how dance and choreography can create physical encounters that foster a dialogue between bodily presence and social interaction. Sara’s practice delves into the intersection of professional and non-professional realms, often incorporating active participation from non-professionals, or from the audience itself.
The focus centers on the body and its representations, delving into ideas surrounding identity, the division between private and public spheres, societal norms, and a curiosity about reshaping or reimagining these concepts. Often working with imagination, the theatre remains a principal context that she refers to in her installation, film and performance works, as a place to reinvent and rethink potentials for the body and how we perceive it.
Sara holds an MFA in Choreography from Stockholm University of the Arts (2016-2018) and a BA from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London (2002-2005) where she also lived and worked until 2012. Her work has been presented in international festivals, theaters, galleries, museums, and public spaces, including Yorkshire Dance, Dansens Hus in Oslo and Stockholm, Monty Theatre, Laban Theatre, The Place, Dance4, Skissernas Museum, Scenkonstmuseet, Norrtälje Konsthall, MDT, and WELD. She has also produced several award-winning video works commissioned by SVT that have been shown both nationally and internationally.
