Selim Ben Cheikh

Selim Ben Cheikh was born in 1979 in Akouda (Tunisia) where he lives and works. Trained at the Institut Supérieur des Beaux Arts de Tunis, he obtained a Masters in Fine Arts in 2003. He furthered his education at the Université Paris1 Pantheon Sorbonne where he obtained a diploma of advanced studies in Aesthetics and Art Sciences.
Initially, his research often related to the need to translate visually forces of gravity, tension and pressure; which inspired several of his exhibitions between 2005 and 2007. Amongst these three solo exhibitions in Paris stand out: Simply Human (March 2005) at the Cité Universitaire Internationale; Mechanical Ballet(April 2006), at the Cité Universitaire Internationale de Paris; and Dialogue (June 2007) à the Fondation le Corbusier. He has been exhibiting regularly in Tunis since May 2012, He has three solo exhibitions in Tunis, Obliques in March 2014 at the gorgi Gallery, Ijtihad in March 2017 at Ghaya gallery and the last exhibition was in La boite in September 2017.
His recent research focuses on the evolution and changes observed in his country in recent years.
